Epcot for Teens

The final park in my Walt Disney World for Teen series is Epcot. For those who don’t know, Epcot is an acronym for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Walt Disney’s big dream for the Florida project was to have a city of the future, that being Epcot. While it didn’t turn out to be a city, it did turn out to be one of the most visited theme parks in the world. I think teens will find a lot to do here whether it is dining, shopping, or attractions.

Epcot is the only park that has two entrances. You can enter through either the front where most people do or through the back, called the International Gateway. Starting at the front of the park you are immediately going to see Spaceship Earth, a fun ride through time where you get to create your own future based on what you like. After Spaceship Earth you can head to Future World East or West.

Future World East is where you will find some thrills that I know teens will enjoy. Mission: SPACE is an awesome experience for those who want to feel like they are actually blasting off in a NASA rocket to Mars. Don’t worry though, if you don’t want to have the full experience, try the green version which is much tamer and is not as rough. Also in Future World East you will find Test Track, my favorite ride at Epcot, where you get to design your own concept vehicle. After spending a couple minutes in the design lab you can go test it out on the test course where thrill seeking teens are sure to have some fun. One final thrill is over at Sum of All Thrills. Design and customize your own thrill ride and then test it in a motion simulator!

Over in Future World West, the thrills drop a bit so if you are a teen not looking for the thrills jump on over to this side where you can meet Disney characters at Epcot Character Spot. Get your selfies with Mickey and the gang, as well as Baymax, and soon Joy and Sadness from Inside Out. Continuing on the West side you’ll find The Seas with Nemo and Friends, a nice omnimover ride that surrounds you with all sorts of awesome real marine life. One of the most popular attractions in all of Epcot that I would be sure to use a FastPass on is Soarin’. This ride takes you in a hang glider over all sorts of places around the world. This is something you don’t want to miss. For the teen who likes plants or agriculture, right next door to Soarin’ is Living with the Land, a boat ride through the greenhouses of Epcot where you can see some of the most unique and crazy looking plants in the world. Finally, Club Cool is an experience from Coca-Cola that lets you taste test sodas from around the world for free! Just watch out, the floors can get a little sticky sometimes.

Epcot for Teens

Moving out of Future World and in the the second half of Epcot we have World Showcase. The teen that loves food and different cultures is going to love this. 11 different countries all have unique restaurants and shops where you can buy some interesting things. Some personal favorites are the pizza at Via Napoli in Italy and shopping in Mitsukoshi in Japan. There is so much to eat, see, and experience in World Showcase that I think all teens would find something they enjoy. I know I have found a few.

Epcot for Teens

Every night before the park closes, Epcot holds a nighttime spectacular like no other. Teens will be sure to love Illuminations: Reflections of Earth where fireworks, lasers, and fire are used in extraordinary ways. I recommend this to everyone not just teens.

Teens are sure to find something to do at Epcot whether it’s dining at a country in World Showcase, testing your car at Test Track, Soarin’ around the world, or just hanging out and enjoying the atmosphere.
