Disney Cruise Line Looks Forward to its First Visit to Cartagena in 2019

Over the past few weeks, Disney Cruise Line has been sharing a look at some of the European ports that the Disney Magic will visit in 2019, including Rome and Belfast. This time around, they’re sharing details about their first visit to Cartagena, Spain, which is part of the Magic’s 2019 eastbound transatlantic sailing.

Pedestrian friendly Cartagena is quiet and removed from the busy touristy areas, but boasts a diverse heritage, including a blend of modern architecture and ancient historical influence.

Discovered just 30 years ago beneath other buildings, this Roman Theatre features a museum full of artifacts from the theatre’s history.

Castillo de la Concepcion is on the top of the highest hill in the city. Once the site of a Roman temple, the castle survived through years of changes of leadership in Spain. The medieval fortress is now home to a museum that shares the city’s maritime history.

If relaxing is on your agenda, head to Cala Cortina Beach, where you’ll find bars, restaurants, and children’s play areas. Located in a cove, this “playa” is a great place to snorkel.

The Disney Magic leaves from Miami, Florida on May 12, 2019 on its way to Barcelona, Spain. Before its visit to Cartagena, the ship also visits Ponta Delgada and Lisbon in Portugal, plus Cadiz and Malaga in Spain.
